First, I want to say thank you to everyone who has emailed me with questions about detoxing. It is a topic that I am finding more and more people are interested in because the word is getting out that our bodies truly were created to heal themselves. It is a marathon, not a sprint, but I am determined more than ever to be a guide in this journey to whole body wellness.
One of the biggest drivers in the detox protocol is the lymphatic system, but it is also one that needs the most assistance. Keep ready to find out some simple ways that you can give your lymphatic system the love it needs to keep your body performing at optimal levels.
Healthy Living Tip
Your lymphatic system flows in one direction, toward the heart.
Unlike your bloodstream, the lymph system doesn’t have a pump (like the heart), so it relies on muscle movement, deep breathing, and intentional actions like dry brushing to keep things flowing. Brushing toward your heart follows the natural lymph flow, helping move toxins and waste through your lymph vessels toward elimination points.
How to Dry Brush:
-
Use a natural bristle brush
-
Always brush on dry skin, preferably before a shower.
-
Start at your feet, using firm, upward strokes toward your heart.
-
Move to your arms, beginning at the hands and brushing up toward your shoulders and chest.
-
Brush your abdomen and back in gentle, circular strokes toward your chest.
-
Be gentle around sensitive areas, like the neck and chest, but still brush toward the heart.
This ritual not only boosts detoxification, it also exfoliates dead skin, increases circulation, and creates a moment of connection with your body. Think of it as an energizing, soul-nourishing practice that sets the tone for the rest of your day.
Sip warm water with lemon and a pinch of sea salt afterward to flush and hydrate.
Recipe I’m Loving
Citrus Ginger Lymph Cleanse Smoothie
This is a great recipe for supporting the lymphatic system that focuses on hydration, anti-inflammatory foods, and ingredients that promote detox and circulation.
Ingredients:
1 cup coconut water
1/2 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or frozen)
1 orange, peeled and seeded
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1/2 cucumber, peeled and sliced
1 Tbsp fresh ginger, peeled and grated
Small handful of fresh parsley
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Handful of ice (optional)
Instructions
-
Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
-
Blend until smooth and frothy.
-
Let sit for 5 minutes if using chia seeds to allow them to plump.
-
Sip slowly and mindfully—ideally first thing in the morning or post-dry brushing
Natural Living DIY
In a world full of digital noise and artificial everything, the Earth is still offering its purest medicine—direct connection. This barefoot ritual is a grounding practice designed to calm your nervous system, move your lymph, and root your spirit.
You’ll Need:
Bare feet
A patch of grass, dirt, sand, or even stone
10–15 minutes of uninterrupted time
Optional: Journal or warm herbal tea afterward
The Ritual:
-
Step outside in the morning or evening, when the earth is calmest.
-
Stand or walk barefoot on the ground. No socks, no shoes. Just you and the earth.
-
Close your eyes and take 5 deep, slow breaths—in through your nose, out through your mouth.
-
Visualize your body draining stress, tension, and toxins down through your feet into the earth.
-
Move gently: shift your weight from foot to foot, bend your knees, or even dance slowly. This encourages lymphatic flow.
-
Stay for at least 10 minutes, longer if you can. Let your body recalibrate to the frequency of the earth.
Something I’m Pondering
There’s a sacred rhythm built into the body… A quiet flow, just beneath the surface carrying away the waste, delivering nourishment, keeping us alive and vibrant.
The lymphatic system.
It doesn’t have a pump like the heart. It waits for us to move. To breathe deeply. To stretch. To touch.
And it has me wondering…
How many of us are walking around with stagnant energy, stuck emotions? Not because we’re broken, but simply because we’ve forgotten to move.
Not just our bodies, but our souls.
What if your wellness isn’t waiting on another protocol, but on a morning walk in bare feet?
Or a dry brush ritual?
What if healing is less about doing more? And more about honoring the flow?
Today, I’m remembering that healing isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s found in gentle things like moving toward the light with unwavering hope.
