“Hey, explain this: ‘No small feat for a steak-loving, raw cheese and fresh sourdough bread-loving farm girl.’ I totally get the dairy and bread, but grass-fed beef? You’re not serious... right??”
I have the honor of being read by my parents, and oftentimes I’ll get a pat on the back from my dad if he thinks an email was grammatically on point.
He’s always been a stickler for good writing.
But this morning, after reading yesterday’s email, he had questions—haha… And so did many of you.
Today, we’re diving into the “why” behind hydration, and I’m sharing Step Two of your Mucusless Cleanse: The Alchemy Code Diet.
We all know we’re supposed to drink “a lot” of water…
But what does that even mean? How much is enough?
But what does that even mean? How much is enough?
Is it really just because our bodies are made up of over 80% water? Is it because it helps us feel less thirsty or flush out toxins?
Yes… and yet, the real reason goes far deeper.
You see, hydration isn’t just about quenching thirst. Your cells are hydroelectric. They run on water.
Think of those old watermills with giant wooden wheels.
What happens when the river runs dry? The wheel stops.
Your body works the same way.

Your body works the same way.
In the book You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj, he shares a story from his time as a political prisoner. With no access to medicine, he treated inmates with bleeding ulcers using only water, and the ulcers healed. The pain disappeared.
Most of us are already in a state of dehydration crisis by the time we feel thirsty.
Chronic fatigue, pain, and illness, even asthma and premature aging, often come long before the thirst signal arrives.
Water is foundational. Your body will rob water from one part of your body to fuel another, just to keep you alive if you're not giving it what it needs.
“Can I count tea, juice, watery fruit, or other drinks as water?”
The short answer is no.
Your body needs pure water. When it has to separate out additives, caffeine, or sugars, it uses up hydration to digest them. It’s a net loss.

I know some people say they “don’t like water.” But clean, fresh water is delightful when your body begins to crave what it was designed for.
How Much Should You Drink?
- Start your morning with a half glass.
- Use the restroom, then drink another half glass.
- By the end of the day, consume half your body weight in ounces. (If you weigh 150 lbs, that’s 75 oz of water.)
Set reminders if needed.
You’ll feel more energy, notice your skin glow, reduce pain, and start to heal.
Now for Step Two of your Mucusless Cleanse:
Replace “dead food” with living food.
Replace “dead food” with living food.
This brings me back to my dad’s question earlier in this message—because when we start thinking about what we eat in terms of living versus dead food, everything changes.
Meat—yes, even high-quality, grass-fed meat, which I’ve loved for years—requires more energy to digest than it gives. During digestion, it tends to putrefy in the gut, especially when our systems are already sluggish or overwhelmed.
When supporting a deep cleanse, we have to think differently.
We need to ask, Is this food alive? Will it energize my body and support my natural elimination processes?
Living foods—fruits, vegetables, sprouts, herbs—carry bioavailable water, enzymes, and life-force energy. They don’t steal energy from your body to be digested… they give it back.
We live in a world obsessed with “organic,” “non-GMO,” “gluten-free” labels… but all those words are about what’s not in the food.
That’s important—but the real shift happens when we eat what’s inherently alive.
Fresh fruits, raw veggies, soaked seeds, living greens.
If you’re battling inflammation, skin issues, brain fog, or even recurring colds, there’s likely a buildup of mucus and stagnation in your tissues. If you're constipated (and most Americans are), toxins aren't being released.
Let’s be clear:
You should be pooping after every meal. (Tomorrow, we’ll talk digestion and regularity.)

Because you can’t talk about beauty without talking about pooping.
Your skin mirrors your digestion.

Start small if needed. Use the swap method:
Replace dead, boxed food with salads, fruits, or nuts. You’ll feel the difference.

And finally, your mindset matters.
Start living, breathing, and thinking in alignment with healing. Listen to your body. Once you start cleansing, your cravings will shift. Your taste buds will come back to life. You’ll start noticing what foods make you bloated and tired.
You’ll begin craving what your body actually needs:
Greens. Fruit. Real nourishment.
Life-giving hydration.
Greens. Fruit. Real nourishment.
Life-giving hydration.
So here’s your takeaway today:
- Drink half your body weight in ounces of clean water each day.
- Begin replacing dead food with fresh, vibrant, high-vitality living food.
Let’s take our power back and live an outrageously impactful life.
