Ingrown Hairs

Ingrown Hairs

One of the very first Remedies I ever created was MAN Soap and MAN Face. Looking back at those old farmers’ market photos, I can’t help but smile at the journey of naming each product. MAN Face actually began life as a beard oil (see pic below).

I had thousands of bearded men, and their lovely ladies, stop by my table, drawn in by the aromas and my cool one-liners like, “Does your man have smooch factor?” Lol… it worked. People would always chuckle, then they’d be surprised by the deliciously alluring aroma, then they’d buy three. ☺️

But through years of feedback and reformulation, I stumbled onto something surprising: the power of oil as a pre-shave to stop ingrown hairs. Not just for my loyal customers, but for me as well. You might be surprised by how many people struggle with this irritation. I know how crazy it feels on my legs - I can’t even imagine the daily battle for the men who shave their faces and necks every day!

That empathy drove me to find a real solution… and the results. Wow. Men and women who had tried every foam and cream with no success were suddenly experiencing soft, smooth, and comfortable skin. For someone like me, who once avoided shaving at all costs, it was a true game-changer.

Here’s the biology: normally, hair grows straight out through the follicle. But when skin is dry, inflamed, or the hair is cut at a sharp angle, it can curl sideways and push back under the surface. Your body treats it like an intruder, triggering redness, swelling, and pain.

Think of it like a spring trying to push through a tight lid. If the lid (your skin) is dry and rigid, the spring bends underneath instead of popping out smoothly.

Shaving on dry skin only makes the problem worse. Razors create sharp tips and micro-tears, while traditional foams strip away natural oils, leaving the “lid” even tighter.

That’s why an oil-based preshave ritual works so beautifully. Oils soften the hair shaft, hydrate the follicle opening, and create a slick surface for your razor to glide over. The result? Hair exits cleanly, skin stays calm, and inflammation is curbed before it starts.

Prevent Ingrown Hairs in 3 Simple Steps - for MEN

Step 1: Oil Prep (Pre-Shave)
Massage MAN Face Oil into damp skin. It softens coarse hair, hydrates follicles, and sets the stage for a clean cut.

Step 2: Clean Glide (Shave)
Lather with MAN Soap as you shave. Its botanical base cushions the razor and reduces drag.

Step 3: Restore & Protect (Post-Shave)
Apply a light layer of MAN Face Oil again. It calms irritation, restores the skin barrier, and doubles as beard oil + aftershave.

For WOMEN

Step 1: Oil Prep (Pre-Shave)
Massage botanical oil into damp skin before shaving legs, underarms, or bikini line. This softens hair and keeps follicles hydrated.

Step 2: Smooth Shave
Follow with one of our Botanical Soaps. Their creamy lather cushions the razor while nourishing skin.

Step 3: Restore & Glow
Reapply a light layer of Oil or Balm to lock in hydration and calm the skin for soft, bump-free results.

Whether it’s jawline, neck, legs, or bikini line, this simple oil-first ritual transforms shaving into true skin therapy: smooth, healthy, and irritation-free.
